So this is my sketch to work out some of the placements and shapes of the buildings. The only difference between these three is that there is a different wind vane used.
Here's a cleaner version of those early sketches, in addition to scrapping most of the left side and foreground and just replacing it with something different.
Here is a simple tonal lay in to help me think in terms of local colors probably present.
And here are 2 lighting versions based on some copic lighting tests I did.
I have some plein air gouache paintings to do, and I think I'll start uploading them soon, since I've gotten to a point with gouache where I can handle them quite comfortably, even though I take 3xs as long as everyone else, and then some sketchbook pages I should include on this blog. I came up with a brief nursery rhyme, and I want to supply a simple illustration to represent it. It's for a subplot idea.
