Status update 3/11

I just "finished" my assignment for environment sketching, a medieval street in 2 pt perspective. It looks really cartoony. I have been so swamped with school work, so it took me forever to finally sit down and clean up the lines.

So this is my sketch to work out some of the placements and shapes of the buildings. The only difference between these three is that there is a different wind vane used. I'm a little nit-picky.

Here's a cleaner version of those early sketches, in addition to scrapping most of the left side and foreground and just replacing it with something different.

Here is a simple tonal lay in to help me think in terms of local colors probably present.

And here are 2 lighting versions based on some copic lighting tests I did.

I have some plein air gouache paintings to do, and I think I'll start uploading them soon, since I've gotten to a point with gouache where I can handle them quite comfortably, even though I take 3xs as long as everyone else, and then some sketchbook pages I should include on this blog. I came up with a brief nursery rhyme, and I want to supply a simple illustration to represent it. It's for a subplot idea.
